Creating Rhythmic, Vocal Drum Flows To Beats

Skatting + Freestyling For Natural Delivery

  • Freestyle for melodies across the beat a few times to find natural patterns your ears will like.
  • Choose the best voice you had in the flow. Do high, medium and low flow voice types.
  • Determine which voice types didn’t work.
  • Flow to the kicks and snares in the beat.
  • Flow to the melody of the beat that was created.
  • Choose the best flows you liked that created the best rhythm for that actual beat and vibe.
  • Show them where your vocals are hitting on the beat in pro-tools and how those created the best flows and vibe for the beat.
  • Rewrite lyrics to those flow patterns by matching syllables

Choose Your Speed Of Rhythm To Flow To The Beat

  • Slow (Breath pacing)
  • Mid Speed (Less breath pacing)
  • Double Speed/Double Speed Rap (Rarely breathing unless for dramatic effect)

Usually, it’s a combination to entertain the listener but one of these flow types will be your primary for the song. Don’t worry! Eventually you will automatically be able to find flows on a majority of beats you get on.
