So, What Happens Here?

What is happening over the course of this week to building your flow is this:

  • You are spending 300 minutes recording freestyles to beats. (5 hours total)

Assuming the instrumentals you choose to freestyle to are three minutes long, you are doing 10 freestyles to each beat for three minutes for 30 minutes total. You are doing that 10 times, which is 300 minutes.

That is 5 hours of freestyling.

  • You are choosing which flows are your best flows on those beats. (5 hours total)

This is always the part I like the least but it’s necessary and helpful for many reasons. This requires listening back to the 300 minutes of flows and determining where your best flow patterns and types are.

In the early stages of learning your flow (which I can assume you are at that stage right now) reviewing is very beneficial because you will start to learn and understand which flows, rhyme patterns, vocal tones and pitches work best for you as a rapper.

So, you are also growing your voice.

  • You are practicing re-writing specifically to syllable counts. (5 hours total)

This is a key to becoming a better rapper.

By re-writing to flow patterns, you created, you are not learning how to break up syllables and replace them inside of flows.

You are also sometimes re-writing to complete gibberish flows. That means that the syllable choices will eventually be completely embedded in your mind and you can write even faster. Chances are you didn’t know how to do this before.

Now your writing patterns are going to be way better than they were before. Now you have the practice where your writing is going to be better off the bat. Then your re-writing is going to be even better.

  • You have just recorded the flows back to the beats. (2 hours total)

This is specifically teaching you how to record lines and emphasize on the kicks and snares.

You are also learning how to actually write like that naturally. That is creating a flow inside of your head every time you write to a beat now.

  • You also have just rewritten a ton of good lyrics and great flows

You can now catalog/save these flows and lyrics for use on other beats with the same tempos. That means you are not only learning in this process but also adding a ton of content for use in future songs 😉

I want you to realize this before you think you are just writing to these beats and then tossing the stuff out. You have to save everything great you write, especially if it’s a great flow and lyrics.

  • Chances are you will get a real song out of this practice

Since I have you flowing to beats that are ones that you like, you are probably going to end up having full verses or at least pieces of verses for beats that can be turned into full songs.

You are spending 17-20 hours in one week building your skill set. You know what they call working 17-20 hours? They call it a part- time job.

If you keep working and growing, it can be your full time paid job.
